Free Groceries & Community Support: Love Your Neighbor Sunday at First Assembly of God!




Did you know that right here in Mount Pleasant, TX, there’s a place where you can receive free groceries and experience the love of Christ? At First Assembly of God – Mount Pleasant, we believe in loving our neighbors just as Jesus commanded. That’s why, on the Sunday following the second Saturday of every month, we host Love Your Neighbor Sunday—an event designed to bless our community with food, encouragement, and the hope of the Gospel.


If you or someone you know could use a helping hand, or if you simply want to be part of a church that actively serves its community, this event is for you!


What Is Love Your Neighbor Sunday?

Jesus said, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31, ESV). Love Your Neighbor Sunday is our way of putting this command into action.


On this special day each month:

  • Every family that attends our 10:30 AM Sunday service is invited to receive FREE groceries—no questions asked.

  • After the service, families can fill up a shopping cart with a variety of food items.

  • We pray for every family and offer encouragement to those in need.

  • It’s a time of fellowship, generosity, and sharing the love of Jesus with our community.


We know that times can be tough, and we want everyone to know that they are loved, valued, and supported—not just spiritually, but in tangible ways.


Who Can Attend?

This event is open to everyone in Mount Pleasant and surrounding areas. You don’t have to be a member of our church—if you need food or just want to experience a welcoming, Christ-centered community, you are invited!

Why Do We Do This?

The Bible teaches us that faith isn’t just about words—it’s about action. “If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and filled,’ without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?” (James 2:15-16, ESV).


That’s why we don’t just talk about loving our neighbors—we show it. We want every person in Mount Pleasant to know that God sees them, cares for them, and has a plan for their life. By meeting physical needs, we also open the door for spiritual transformation.
